CAFE, PATRON, ROSE, THE become café, patrón, rosé, and thé when acute accents are restored. The tile ACCENT does double duty as a useful nudge: it belongs with EMBELLISHMENT by meaning and hints at the spelling trick in this final group. TechRadar contributor Johnny Dee noted that “Connections loves to hide a clue to another group on one of the tiles and today it was ACCENT.” This is the guide author’s observation, not an official NYT statement.

How the daily puzzle works
Connections asks players to sort 16 terms into four sets of four related words. The dated guide describes four groups with different difficulty colors, allows up to four mistakes, and notes that the last group can sometimes be solved by elimination. A new puzzle arrives at midnight in each time zone, so “today” can refer to different dates depending on where you are. The guide says the game is available through NYT Games on desktop or mobile.
