Hints for Connections #741
The puzzle asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four that share a connection. The New York Times Help Center explains that the groups are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest. Its guide to the game is available at The New York Times Help Center.
Try these clues in order; each reveals more than the one before it.
- One group describes a compact, thickset build.
- One group contains words that can refer to a business or business organization.
- One group names foods or drinks made from apples.
- The last group consists of opening fragments from four European country names.

Why the apple group is easy to misread
“APPLE PRODUCTS” refers to foods and drink derived from the fruit: brandy, butter, cider, and sauce. It does not mean products made by Apple the technology company.

The New York Times says Connections is available in the Games app, at NYTimes.com/games/connections, and in the News app; the daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone.
