Use the clues in order, stopping when you have enough to solve the grid:
- Yellow: Written composition.
- Green: Things used in a popular game.
- Blue: Film characters.
- Purple: Add a word that rhymes with “thick.”

Blue: HEROES OF ACTION MOVIE FRANCHISES
BOND, JONES, OCEAN and WICK point to James Bond, Indiana Jones, Danny Ocean and John Wick. TechRadar’s writer said OCEAN felt less intuitive than the other franchise heroes, and reported solving the puzzle with one mistake; that was the writer’s experience, not a measure of how difficult every player will find the group. TechRadar rated the puzzle “Moderate.”

This is the May 8, 2025 puzzle, numbered #697. Try Hard Guides and TechRadar both list that date, number, the same four categories and the same 16 words. Their pages were published May 7, reflecting the date boundary in publication timing. The answer key is corroborated by those two secondary guides rather than an independently verified NYT record.
