Why the groups fit
Kinds of carvings
A bust depicts a person’s head and upper torso; a relief is sculpted to project from a surface; a statue is a three-dimensional figure; and a torso is the body’s trunk, often represented in sculpture.
Pillar
Each word can describe something that holds or reinforces a structure: a brace, post, prop, or support.
BBQ offering
Dog means hot dog, and link refers to a sausage link. Rib and wing are also common barbecue offerings. “Rib” and “wing” may initially suggest body parts, which makes the food category easier to overlook.
___NECK
Add “neck” after each word: bottle neck, breakneck, gooseneck, and turtleneck. The four entries form familiar compounds or phrases with the same ending.

The New York Times Help Center says its Connections archive includes puzzles dating back to June 12, 2023, and that archive play is available to All Access and Games subscribers. The archive affects certain statistics but not streaks. Access terms can change, so check the official Connections help page for current details.
For context, the NYT describes Connections as a game in which players sort 16 words into four groups of four sharing a theme. It says each puzzle has one solution and that words can appear to fit more than one category. That overlap is why it can help to identify a likely set, then wait to submit until the other words support it too.
