How the colors work
The New York Times Help Center ranks the color groups from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest. In this puzzle, the yellow category links everyday computer input devices, while the purple category depends on recognizing songs that reached No. 1 in 1982.

The New York Times says its Connections archive reaches back to June 12, 2023, and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. Completed archived puzzles cannot be replayed, so the archive is for accessing past puzzles rather than replaying ones you have already finished.
