Need a nudge on the Sunday, June 2, 2024 Connections puzzle? This is game #357. Start with the spoiler-light clues below and stop whenever you have enough to keep solving; the full groups and word sets are behind a spoiler break.
How to use these hints
Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four. You can make up to four mistakes, and shuffling the board can help you see the words differently. The groups are color-coded by difficulty: yellow is generally the easiest and purple the trickiest.
Read the clues in order, revealing only as much as you need. Each points toward one group without immediately giving away its complete set.
- Hint 1: What idea links followers, sheep, lemmings, and puppets?
- Hint 2: Think about ways a company might offer ownership or ownership-related compensation.
- Hint 3: The four city names include Mobile, Phoenix, Buffalo, and Billings.
- Hint 4: The final group depends on several meanings of “digs”: a place to live, tools for digging, verbal jabs, and enjoying something.
Watch for tempting decoys
Buffalo, Phoenix, sheep, and lemmings may suggest an animal connection, while followers, likes, and shares can evoke social media. Those are tempting overlaps, but they are not the intended groups. Look for four words with a more precise shared meaning rather than assembling a set around a loose association.

Purple: WHAT “DIGS” MIGHT MEAN
APARTMENT, SHOVELS, INSULTS, LIKES — “digs” can mean living quarters; shovels are used to dig; a dig can be an insult; and “I dig it” means “I like it.” The connection shifts among distinct senses and uses of the word.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the final group is tricky
The purple set is not four synonyms for “digs.” It brings together separate meanings and expressions: an apartment can be called digs, shovels are digging tools, an insult can be a dig at someone, and “to dig” something can mean to like or appreciate it. Recognizing that the category can bridge different parts of speech and phrases helps explain why the set feels less direct than the others.
