The word groups and solution are reported by Fortnite Insider’s July 14, 2024 answer guide; the New York Times puzzle archive was not directly available to verify this specific historical board.

How Connections works

Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on shared themes. The New York Times assigns each group a color: yellow is the easiest and purple the trickiest. Words can plausibly fit more than one category, so look for the grouping that accounts for all four words without forcing a connection. The NYT Help Center explains the game’s rules and editorial approach; it says editors curate words and categories using the Oxford Dictionary.
