  • Green: These are sports.
  • Blue: Each can describe a craze or intense enthusiasm.

How Connections works

Connections presents 16 words. The goal is to sort them into four groups of four based on a shared connection. A new puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone. The game is available through NYT Games on desktop and mobile, according to TechRadar. Forbes reported that access to the full archive of past puzzles is available with an NYT Games subscription; access terms may change.

Green Sports CRICKET, GOLF, POLO, SQUASH
Blue Mania BUG, CRAZE, FAD, FEVER
Purple Single animal in a creatively spelled band name BEETLE, BIRD, GORILLA, MONKEY

Game number and answer-source note

TechRadar’s dated guide labels the August 3 puzzle #784, and Forbes’s August 3 guide reports the same word groups and answers. One conflicting search result labeled the date #822 and listed different groups; it does not match those two dated reports, so this guide uses #784. The NYT primary game page was not independently accessible for confirmation.
