Connections #626 answers for February 26, 2025
Connections asks players to sort sixteen words into four groups of four based on a shared characteristic, as described by Fortnite Insider. The answer guides from ConnectionsSolver and Fortnite Insider agree on this puzzle’s categories and entries:
| Group | Category | Words |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | Expenditure | CHARGE, COST, PRICE, RATE |
| Green | One-time | FORMER, LATE, PAST, PRIOR |
| Blue | Made with horizontal lines | DASH, HYPHEN, MINUS, UNDERSCORE |
| Purple | Simpson family members with the first letter changed | BAGGIE, BARGE, COMER, PISA |
How the four groups fit
Yellow: expenditure
CHARGE, COST, PRICE, and RATE can each refer to an amount paid or charged.
Green: one-time
FORMER, LATE, PAST, and PRIOR all point to something earlier or no longer current.
#1 Best Overall
Blue: made with horizontal lines
DASH, HYPHEN, MINUS, and UNDERSCORE are marks represented by horizontal strokes.
Purple: Simpsons family names with the first letter changed
Each entry changes the first letter of a Simpsons family member’s name: Maggie becomes BAGGIE, Marge becomes BARGE, Homer becomes COMER, and Lisa becomes PISA. The altered words are the puzzle’s trickiest-looking set because the connection depends on comparing each word with a name, not just on the words’ ordinary meanings.

A useful way to approach this board
Several entries can invite more than one plausible association. Look for a rule that accounts for all four words in a group, rather than locking in a pair based on a partial match. For the purple set in particular, testing whether each word differs from a familiar name by one initial letter reveals the shared pattern.
