Why the words fit
- THINK OF TOGETHER: “Affiliate,” “associate,” “equate,” and “relate” all describe linking or considering things in relation to one another.
- WAYS TO ATTRACT FISH: Bait, chum, flies, and lures can be used to draw fish. “Fly” here is the fishing term.
- W.N.B.A. TEAMS: Liberty, Storm, Sun, and Wings are team names.
- LONG _____: Each word completes a familiar phrase: longbow, longfellow, longhorn, and long legs.
How Connections works
Connections presents sixteen words for players to divide into four groups of four, with each group sharing a theme. A correct four-word guess reveals its category and removes those words from the grid. Some links rely on familiar language, while others call for lateral or abstract thinking, as described in a 2024 paper about the puzzle: “Missed Connections: Lateral Thinking Puzzles for Large Language Models”.
