How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words for players to sort into four groups of four based on a shared theme. The categories are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest. Words may seem to fit more than one group, but each puzzle has one intended solution. The New York Times Help Center says editors curate the words and categories using the Oxford Dictionary: Connections rules and help.
