How the daily puzzle works

Connections presents 16 words to sort into four groups of four. The New York Times Help Center says each puzzle has exactly one solution, even though a word may appear to fit more than one category. The game is available on the web and in the NYT Games app. It releases at midnight in the player’s timezone, so the puzzle considered “today’s” can vary by location. See the NYT Help Center’s Connections guide for rules, play access, and archive details.

The NYT Help Center says its archive extends back to June 12, 2023 for All Access and Games subscribers. Puzzle #679 falls within that date range, but check the current account eligibility terms if you want to replay it from the archive.
