Hints for Connections #528

Use these clues from broadest to most specific before checking the answers.

  1. Think of sounds associated with an animal.
  2. These are verbs for presenting or distributing content to a wide audience.
  3. Each word describes an action involved in preparing a drink.
  4. These are structures or diagrams that can represent a hierarchy.

Connections #528 answers

The four categories and their words are:

Category Words
SOUND LIKE A DOG BARK, BAY, HOWL, SNARL
BROADCAST, AS ONLINE MEDIA AIR, PLAY, RUN, STREAM
COCKTAIL-MAKING VERBS GARNISH, MUDDLE, STIR, STRAIN
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES, METAPHORICALLY CHAIN, LADDER, PYRAMID, TREE

Why the last two groups can be tricky

In the online-media group, the words work as verbs for broadcasting or presenting media; they are not simply a list of media formats. The final group is metaphorical: each word can describe a diagrammed or conceptual structure for organizing people or information.
