Why the categories can be difficult
Connections gives players 16 words and asks them to find four groups of four that share a connection, according to The New York Times Help Center. Its puzzles are designed so that words may seem to fit more than one category, even though each puzzle has one solution. The color order runs from yellow, the easiest group, to purple, the trickiest.
Where to play Connections
The New York Times says Connections is free to play on its Games website and apps, with a new puzzle appearing at midnight in the player’s timezone. Its archive begins on June 12, 2023; archive play is available to All Access and Games subscribers. Access terms can change, so check the NYT Help Center for current details.
