What is the latest update on Now You See Me 4?
Franco said in an interview published August 17, 2026, that “they’re writing [it] right now!” ScreenRant’s report, syndicated by AOL, does not name the writer or writers. The comment is a meaningful sign of progress, but it is not an official production schedule or confirmation that filming has begun.
The update follows an April 1, 2025, development announcement at CinemaCon. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said, “We were so happy with the director’s cut, we’re already developing the next chapter,” according to Variety. Variety also reported that Fleischer would return as director.
What did Ruben Fleischer say about the next film?
In a December 29, 2025, interview with ComingSoon, Fleischer said he was excited to continue the story and wanted to take the next film to a higher level. He also addressed Pike’s expected absence: “We’re all kind of sad, honestly, that Rosamund [Pike] won’t be in the next one because she also was just so fun.”

That is a comment about Pike, not evidence of a broader cast departure. The available reports do not identify the fourth film’s complete cast, so it is too early to treat any predecessor-film lineup as confirmed for the sequel.
Why is Rosamund Pike expected to be absent?
Fleischer’s interview is the source for the statement that Pike will not be in the next film. The reports do not provide a reason for her absence or a statement from Pike herself. Her role in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was Veronika Vanderberg, a diamond heiress whose corruption the illusionists set out to expose, according to Lionsgate’s October 2025 press release.

Is Jesse Eisenberg returning?
Eisenberg has expressed interest, but that is not a casting confirmation. In a July 6, 2026, interview reported by ScreenRant, he said, “Honestly, I’d love to do Now You See Me 4 more than anything else.” The same report said plot details and a release timeline remained under wraps.
Lionsgate’s press release for the preceding film lists Eisenberg alongside Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, Pike and Morgan Freeman. That is the cast of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, not an announced cast list for film four.

How does the latest film’s box office fit into the picture?
Commercial figures offer context, but they do not establish why Lionsgate is developing another installment.
