Novak Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, have two children: a son, Stefan, born in October 2014, and a daughter, Tara, born in September 2017. As of August 12, 2026, Stefan is 11 and Tara is 8.
The children occasionally appear with their father at tennis tournaments, but their parents have kept most details of their private lives away from the public record. What is known publicly is largely limited to family moments at tournaments and Novak’s comments about Stefan’s interest in tennis.

The ages above are date-specific. Because neither child’s birthday had occurred by August 12, 2026, Stefan was 11 and Tara was 8 on that date. Their ages should be recalculated for any later publication.
Stefan Djokovic
When was Stefan born?
Stefan was born in October 2014 in Nice, France. Djokovic announced the birth publicly, and ESPN reported the news at the time. Later sources have not always reproduced the same precise birthday consistently, so “born in October 2014” is the most reliable general wording for a profile such as this.
Stefan’s connection to tennis
Of the two children, Stefan has been more directly associated with tennis in his father’s public comments. Djokovic said during ATP coverage of the 2022 Nitto ATP Finals that his eight-year-old son was playing tennis and enjoyed being around the Tour.
According to Djokovic’s comments, Stefan has collected player signatures, helped with ball picking, and sometimes taken part in activities around practice sessions. Those details support describing Stefan as interested in tennis and familiar with the tournament environment. They do not establish that he is a professional player, has joined a formal tennis academy, or is committed to a future career in the sport.

It is tempting to describe a famous athlete’s child as the “next” version of that parent, but there is no reliable basis for saying Stefan is destined to become a professional tennis player. At 11, his publicly documented relationship with the sport is best understood as a child’s interest in playing and following his father’s work.
Tara Djokovic
When was Tara born?
Tara was born in September 2017. Established biographical profiles identify her birth month, but the available authoritative material does not establish a precise day that should be presented as settled fact.
Tara at Wimbledon
Tara became particularly noticeable to tennis viewers during Wimbledon in July 2025. She demonstrated the “pump it up” celebration associated with Djokovic’s victories while supporting her father. Djokovic explained that the celebration came from a song and a tradition shared with his children; ATP coverage reported that Tara performed the dance and Stefan applauded her.
The moment was a memorable family interaction at a major sporting event. It is not evidence that Tara is pursuing a professional career in dance, entertainment, or media.

The Djokovic children at tennis tournaments
Stefan and Tara have occasionally joined their father at tournaments, usually alongside Jelena. Their public appearances have offered brief glimpses of the family’s support for Djokovic without revealing the children’s private routines.
- Brisbane, January 2025: ATP Tour coverage reported that Jelena, Stefan, and Tara were with Djokovic in Australia. Djokovic described having his family there as a source of love and energy.
- 2022 Nitto ATP Finals: Djokovic spoke about Stefan’s interest in playing tennis, collecting signatures, helping with ball picking, and spending time around the Tour.
- US Open, 2023: Both children were reported in the crowd. Djokovic said that seeing Tara during the final gave him additional motivation.
- Wimbledon, 2025: Tara’s performance of the family’s “pump it up” celebration drew attention, while Stefan applauded her.
- Wimbledon, June 29, 2026: A Getty/PA image caption identified Jelena with Stefan and Tara at the tournament.
These appearances show that the children sometimes accompany their parents to tennis events. They should not be read as a complete picture of the family’s travel schedule, home life, or daily activities.
Why so little is publicly known about Stefan and Tara?
Stefan and Tara are minors, and Novak and Jelena have maintained a selective public profile for them. Public tournament appearances and comments made by the parents can be discussed, but details about the children’s school, teachers, residence, medical history, regular travel arrangements, private education, or personal social-media accounts should not be treated as established facts unless a future primary source confirms them.
Photographs from a tournament can show that a child attended a particular event. They cannot reliably establish where the child lives, attends school, spends most of the year, or travels regularly. Avoiding those inferences is especially important when writing about children of public figures.

Jelena Djokovic, parenting, and the family’s foundation work
Jelena’s official Novak Djokovic Foundation Online Academy biography describes her as a mother of two and says that motherhood influenced her interest in conscious parenting and family dynamics. That is Jelena’s stated professional and personal perspective; it does not disclose Stefan and Tara’s schooling, routines, or private upbringing in detail.
Novak and Jelena founded the Novak Djokovic Foundation in 2007. The foundation focuses on early-childhood development and access to preschool education in Serbia. Its work has included constructing or refurbishing preschools, training teachers, supporting parents, and providing educational materials such as books and toys.
The foundation is relevant to the family story because both parents publicly connect their work with children’s education and well-being. However, the programs are run by the foundation—not by Stefan or Tara personally—and should not be described as projects led by the children.

It is a book about Djokovic, not about Stefan or Tara, so it belongs as supplementary reading rather than as a parenting recommendation.
