There is no verified ranking of the best Pass the Brush videos. Historical coverage from April 2020 documents several notable examples, but it does not establish which posts performed best or whether the original TikToks remain available. The selections below are an editorial guide to the format’s creator, group, and community variations—not a definitive top list.
How the Pass the Brush challenge worked
A participant starts in a natural or “before” look, then sweeps or holds a makeup brush across the camera lens. As the brush clears, the video cuts to the participant’s finished makeup look; they pass the brush out of frame, and the next person appears to catch it. The brush serves as both the transition and the handoff prop, making separately recorded transformations feel like one continuous group sequence. Hindustan Times described the before-and-after setup and brush handoff in its April 23, 2020 compilation. A Concordia University doctoral thesis likewise describes the format and notes its use by makeup and drag artists (see the thesis).
Because the transition is edited, participants do not need to be together in the same room. That made the format suited to remote collaborations as well as solo transformations.
Notable examples from the 2020 trend
These examples are selected for their documented range: individual creators, a cross-participant group video, a local artist collaboration, and playful departures from the basic makeup reveal. The sources do not rank them against one another.

mrunalpanchal and Sukriti Kakar: individual creator examples
Hindustan Times named videos by mrunalpanchal and Sukriti Kakar among the examples in its 2020 compilation. They offer a useful starting point for seeing the challenge as a sequence of personal before-and-after looks rather than a single fixed style. The compilation is historical reporting, not evidence that these were the most-viewed or still-accessible posts.
Maureen Wroblewitz’s Asia’s Next Top Model group version
In a group version reported by GMA Entertainment on April 23, 2020, Maureen Wroblewitz brought together participants associated with Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5. GMA’s report identifies collaborators including Veronika Krasnasari, Clara Tan, Shikin Gomez, and Minh Tú Nguyen, among others. The article reproduces the post caption; this selection focuses on the documented group connection rather than treating the caption as a complete or independently verified roll call. A Kapampangan makeup-artist collaboration
Punto! Central Luzon covered a local collaboration initiated by makeup artist Aries Eusebio, highlighting how the trend connected a regional creative community. Fellow makeup artist Toni Gigliotti described the remote workflow: “I created the group chat and informed them on how to create their videos separately before collecting for the final edit.” The account illustrates the practical mechanics behind the seamless handoff: contributors made their clips separately, then one person assembled the sequence. Men and playful variations
Hindustan Times also noted men taking part and a reverse or chores variation. These examples show the format moving beyond conventional makeup transformations: the brush handoff could support a joke or an unexpected reveal as readily as a polished beauty look. The compilation does not establish a separate ranking for these variations.

What the historical view figure does—and does not—say
In a 2020 roundup of viral challenges, Spanish publication 20minutos reported 1.6 billion views for Pass the Brush. That is a figure reported in that dated article, not a current TikTok count. The roundup does not provide an original TikTok analytics source or explain its measurement method, so it should be read as a historical media-reported figure rather than a verified live metric. With no established official ranking, a useful way to browse the examples is to decide what you want to see: the smoothness of the handoff, the range of transformations, the creators or community represented, or a twist on the basic format. The historical articles identify examples, but they do not confirm that every original TikTok remains accessible. Check the creator attribution and post availability before relying on an embed or treating a repost as the original.
