No. Roger Craig Smith, the actor known for voicing Sonic the Hedgehog, said he is not voicing Jason in Grand Theft Auto VI, according to GameSpot. Rockstar’s official character page introduces Jason and Lucia but does not identify their performers, so the identity of Jason’s voice actor remains unconfirmed in the reviewed official material.
Where the Sonic rumor comes from
The rumor concerns Roger Craig Smith, not Sonic as a character. Smith has voiced Sonic in video game and television projects, which is why fans connect his name to the question. But GameSpot reported that Smith said he is not voicing Jason. The report supports a paraphrase of his denial; it does not provide wording that should be repeated as a direct quote.
There is no indication in the reviewed material that Sonic the Hedgehog appears in GTA VI. The claim is about whether the actor associated with Sonic plays Jason.
What Rockstar has confirmed about Jason’s actor
Rockstar’s official GTA VI character page presents Jason and Lucia, but does not credit their voice performers. That makes it an authoritative source for the characters Rockstar has publicly introduced, not confirmation of who plays them.

#1 Best Overall
- Sonic The Hedgehog Sonic 3 Movie 5" Action Figures: Sonic With Emerald Wave #3
As of the reporting reviewed for this article on October 8, 2026, no Jason casting credit is established by the official character page. The answer to “Who voices Jason in GTA 6?” is therefore that Rockstar has not publicly identified the performer there.
Why fan-circulated actor names are not confirmation
Fans have proposed actors based on perceived voice or visual similarities and online theories. Those clues can prompt discussion, but they are not equivalent to a studio credit or a direct confirmation from the actor. GameSpot described an earlier theory that Troy Baker voiced Jason as debunked, and GTA Intel characterizes names circulating in connection with the cast as speculation.

What Stephen Root’s reported involvement does—and does not—tell us
GamesRadar reported that Stephen Root had reportedly confirmed involvement in GTA VI, but did not identify his character. That report does not establish that Root voices Jason, and it does not resolve Jason’s casting.

Cast information can change if Rockstar or an actor makes a confirmation after October 8, 2026. For a reliable update, look for a named credit on Rockstar’s official materials or a direct statement on the actor’s own verified channels. Until then, treat specific Jason actor names as unconfirmed.
