Adra’s documentation is part of a longer collaboration among the filmmakers. According to the Associated Press, filming took place from 2019 through 2023 and wrapped shortly before the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel.
Who directed the documentary?
No Other Land was directed by four filmmakers: Palestinian filmmakers Basel Adra and Hamdan Ballal, and Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. The United Nations identifies the film as co-produced by Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers.

In an Associated Press report, Abraham described the collaboration this way: “We made this film as Palestinians and Israelis because, together, our voices are stronger.” The partnership brings together filmmakers with different national backgrounds around a documentary focused on a Palestinian community’s experience.
Did No Other Land win an Oscar?
Yes. The film won the 2025 Academy Award for best documentary. The United Nations and the Associated Press both reported the win. The documentary had also received the Berlinale Panorama documentary and audience awards, as reported by Cineuropa in its February 2024 interview with Adra and Abraham.
