Why band revenue does not establish his personal fortune
Mötley Crüe’s official biography identifies Sixx as the band’s bassist and says the group has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. That is a band-reported career statistic, not a statement of Sixx’s personal income or share. The biography does not disclose songwriting splits, royalties, ownership, costs, taxes, or how band earnings were distributed. Mötley Crüe’s official biography is undated and was accessed October 8, 2026.
Forbes reported on March 10, 2019, that Mötley Crüe’s farewell tour grossed more than $100 million and discussed a band-level catalog transaction. A tour gross is revenue before the costs and arrangements that determine what participants receive; a band transaction likewise does not reveal Sixx’s individual proceeds. Forbes’ report attributed deal details to band manager Allen Kovac. These historical figures cannot be added up to calculate Sixx’s net worth. Forbes’ 2019 report on Mötley Crüe.

What Sixx has said about music and money
In a December 27, 2015 Forbes interview, Sixx described the relationship between creative work and earnings: “It has always been about songwriting and lyrics and live performances – and then the money comes from that.” He also said, “Sometimes our economy is booming and it’s bucket loads, and other times it’s pennies, it is a penny business.” These comments offer his perspective on music income; they do not document his personal wealth. Read the Forbes interview.
In the same interview, Sixx advised artists to put aside 20% of their earnings. That is advice he gave, not evidence that he followed a particular savings plan or has a specific amount invested.

What the available figures can—and cannot—tell you
- $65 million: Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate of Sixx’s personal net worth; not independently verified in the cited sources.
- More than 100 million albums: Mötley Crüe’s band-reported worldwide sales, not Sixx’s personal earnings.
- More than $100 million: Forbes’ 2019 figure for the band’s farewell-tour gross, not an individual payout.
The band’s official biography also calls The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band a New York Times bestseller and reports more than 1 million copies sold worldwide. That provides background on the group’s commercial reach, but book sales do not verify Sixx’s net worth.
