Night Media’s creator-backed debut venture fund was announced in March 2021 with $20 million in reported capital commitments. Night Media said it planned to invest in consumer-facing startups, gaming businesses—especially those built around user-generated content—and the creator economy, with initial checks of up to $300,000. Night Ventures now says the fund, NV1, is fully deployed; its official page dates completion to 2024.

What Night Media announced in 2021

Night Media, the management company associated with MrBeast, announced its first venture fund in March 2021. TechCrunch reported that creators managed by Night Media and other social media stars had committed $20 million to the fund. Night Media CEO Reed Duchscher described planned initial investments of up to $300,000. TechCrunch’s March 18, 2021 report covered the launch and strategy.

The fund was a way to invest in startups, not simply a pool for financing creators’ own channels. Its stated targets were businesses selling to consumers, gaming—particularly user-generated-content companies—and startups serving the creator economy. The contemporary report named Lolli, Pearpop, and Italic as portfolio examples.

What NV1 focused on—and what is known about its outcome

Night Ventures’ current official fund page identifies NV1 as a $20 million seed and Series A fund and says it was fully deployed in 2024. Its current portfolio list includes Feastables, Italic, MoonPay, and Outtake, among others. These are examples of investments, not evidence of the fund’s financial performance: the available sources do not establish its returns.

Night Ventures frames its thesis around the reach and trust creators can bring to businesses, describing “the most powerful distribution on the internet” as “a person you trust.” That positioning helps explain the creator-backed premise, but the reported strategy was broader than investing only in creator-focused products: consumer businesses and gaming were also named priorities. Night Ventures’ official fund page provides NV1’s current status and portfolio.

NV1, NightCap, and Night Media’s 2026 funding are different

Several Night-related funding announcements can sound similar, but they describe different vehicles and purposes.

Vehicle or announcement Structure and purpose Reported status
NV1 / Night Ventures Creator-backed seed and Series A venture fund; reported in 2021 as having $20 million in commitments and planning initial checks up to $300,000 for startups in consumer markets, gaming, and the creator economy. Night Ventures says fully deployed in 2024.
NightCap A separate Night Media and The Chernin Group growth-equity collaboration, reported in 2022. Its focus was acquiring businesses and pairing them with creators. The cited announcement describes its intended model; it does not establish NV1’s status.
Night Media’s 2026 funding A $70 million company financing announcement led by StepStone Group, with Founders Fund, PagsGroup, K5Global, and House Capital also named. Night said the funding would support strategic acquisitions and expansion into gaming, sports, music, and live events. Announced in February 2026 as company funding, not as a new NV1 fund.

Axios’ account of NightCap explains its distinct acquisition-and-growth-equity model. Axios reported on NightCap in February 2022. Night Media’s announcement details the later company financing and expansion plans: Night’s February 2026 announcement.

Does the 2026 announcement mean Night raised a successor fund?

Not on the information announced. Night’s 2026 statement describes $70 million raised by Night Media to finance the company’s broader expansion; it does not identify the money as a new venture fund or say it replaces NV1. NV1, meanwhile, is listed as fully deployed. The two announcements should therefore be understood separately unless Night identifies a new fund structure.
