Abby is the daughter of Harry Stone, the judge played by Harry Anderson in the 1984–1992 original series. Larroquette’s Dan Fielding has a different job in the revival: he was a prosecutor in the original and is now a public defender. The Associated Press described Larroquette as the only actor from the original series to return as a regular in the revival: AP’s account of the modern-day reboot.
Which Season 1 cast member left?
Kapil Talwalkar as Neil
Talwalkar, who played court clerk Neil in Season 1, did not return for Season 2. TVLine reported on December 28, 2023, that the show had chosen a different creative direction for the character: TVLine’s Season 2 casting report. A January 2024 program listing included Talwalkar among the returning actors, but that conflicts with the specific departure report; he should not be counted as part of the Season 2 cast.
