PerthNow reported on 3 May 2025 that Lawson was making her second trip to Western Australia in just over a year. The two named stops were Cullen Wines in Margaret River and Cape Lodge in Yallingup. Her previous Australian visit was in March 2024, for a Perth Concert Hall event with Matt Preston. PerthNow’s report also said she was due to host dinners for Vivid Sydney 2025.

Broadsheet reported that Lawson ate chicken liver parfait with rhubarb compote at Cape Lodge. The account also relayed her description of the dining-room view as “almost absurdly magnificent.” Read Broadsheet’s account.

At Cullen Wines, Broadsheet listed bread with pipian, scallops and a potato-and-celeriac terrine. It identified the wine served as a 2019 Chardonnay pét-nat. PerthNow reproduced Lawson’s caption about going “straight for lunch at @cullenwines” as her cure for jet lag and “recipe for deep joy,” and quoted her saying it was “so heart-expandingly good to be back.” These quotations come through the outlets’ reports of her social posts.

Cape Lodge’s official website says the property is temporarily closed for redevelopment and expects to welcome guests again in 2028. That means the 2025 report is not an indication that its restaurant or accommodation is currently available. Check Cape Lodge’s official website for its status.
The Margaret River Region visitor map lists Cape Lodge among restaurants and Cullen Wines among wineries with a restaurant. That directory listing does not confirm current hours, booking availability or special access. Cullen’s current prices and booking inventory are not established by the reports of Lawson’s visit, and the 2019 pét-nat mentioned by Broadsheet should not be assumed to be available now.

Why the visit drew attention
The visit brought together two distinct Margaret River-area food experiences: a meal at a winery and a meal at a Yallingup lodge. A separate announcement by Cape Lodge’s operator, Fiveight, named Iain Robertson as the property’s new head chef on 14 April 2025 and described a focus on local, seasonal ingredients. Fiveight also said the appointment followed recognition in the 2025 Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat Awards, describing Cape Lodge as being “in the top 1% of Australia’s best restaurants.” That is the operator’s characterization of the award context, not an independently verified ranking. Fiveight’s announcement predates Lawson’s reported visit and does not establish the lodge’s present operating status.
