What is confirmed about the divorce?
Kidman filed for divorce in Davidson County, Tennessee, in September 2025, citing irreconcilable differences, CBS News reported. A Nashville judge finalized the divorce in January 2026, after finding the settlements on assets and custody sufficient, according to the Associated Press (AP).

Did their prenup contain a “cocaine clause”?
That has not been verified in the public reporting cited here. A Blank Rome media-coverage page reproduces a comment by Lois J. Liberman, a partner in the firm’s Matrimonial and Family Law Group, describing an “alleged provision” that would provide Urban $600,000 for each year of marriage. The page reports commentary about a claim; it does not provide the private prenup or confirm its terms.

Accordingly, reports have alleged that the prenup included a sobriety-related payment provision, sometimes nicknamed a “cocaine clause,” but the agreement’s terms and any payout have not been verified in public court reporting. The public reporting describes a parenting plan and settlement terms—not the alleged private prenup provision.

AP reported that the parenting plan designated Kidman as the primary residential parent and assigned 306 days per year to her and 59 to Urban. The plan’s stated approach to co-parenting included: “The mother and father will behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced.”

Did the alleged clause cause the split?
The filing cited irreconcilable differences. The cited reporting does not connect the alleged clause or drug use to the divorce, so it would be unsupported to present either as the cause.
As historical context only, Kidman told AP in 2024, while discussing the phrase “perfect couple”: “You’re heading for trouble if you consider yourselves the perfect couple,” she said. “I’m not a believer in perfect.” That earlier remark was not a statement about the later divorce.
