ABC News reported on January 9, 2024, that Eggert had shared her diagnosis in an interview with People and on her podcast, Perfectly Twisted. ABC described the diagnosis as stage 2 cribriform carcinoma.
In a later story published December 9, 2024, Susan G. Komen described Eggert’s diagnosis as stage 2 invasive cribriform carcinoma. The additional word “invasive” appears in Komen’s later account; these reports do not provide a fuller pathology record.

According to ABC’s account of Eggert’s interview and podcast remarks, she said pain in her left breast began in late October 2023. She then examined herself, had a mammogram and underwent three biopsies before receiving the diagnosis. ABC reported that she was undergoing additional testing to determine treatment at the time of its January 2024 story.

That personal account is not a diagnostic checklist or a screening recommendation. It also does not establish details such as the tumor’s exact extent, receptor markers, HER2 status or genetic test results. What treatment has been reported?
Komen’s December 9, 2024 story says Eggert’s treatment had included chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy. This is a historical description of treatment by that date, not a report of what she may be receiving now. The January 2024 ABC report had said she was still undergoing additional testing to determine treatment at that earlier point.

Breast cancer care is planned around a person’s cancer type and stage, pathology and other test results, overall health, menopause status and preferences. Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy may be used in different circumstances; the sources do not establish that Eggert received every modality. What has Eggert said about research participation?
Komen reported that Eggert joined its ShareForCures registry and quoted her discussing her interest in contributing to research. “Talking about my experience is a way to give back,” she said. Komen also quoted her saying, “I’m open to anything research-related.” These comments were made in the context of her participation and advocacy; they are not evidence of an endorsement of commercial products.
