Why was Nicki Minaj’s Manchester concert postponed?
On May 25, 2024, Minaj was detained at Schiphol as she traveled to Manchester for a Pink Friday 2 tour performance. The Associated Press reported that Dutch military police said a 41-year-old American woman had been arrested on suspicion of exporting “soft drugs”; AP later reported that police fined and released her. The Dutch public broadcaster NOS reported that the Public Prosecution Service put the amount of cannabis at 30 to 100 grams. Minaj said police found marijuana in her bags, and NOS reported her account that the joints belonged to her security team. These are accounts attributed to the authorities and Minaj, not a finding of conviction for a separate offense.

The Manchester performance could not go ahead that night. In a statement reproduced by ITV, promoter Live Nation said: “Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible.” The promoter also said it was “deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”
What did Minaj say to Manchester fans?
Minaj apologized directly to the audience. The Independent reported her saying: “I love you, and I’m so sorry this happened tonight.” She promised to make up the date and add a bonus for ticket holders. The Guardian reported that about 20,000 fans were inside the venue when the cancellation was announced; NOS reported that attendees were told the show would not proceed when Minaj was due to take the stage.

What happened to Manchester tickets?
Live Nation said tickets would remain valid for the rescheduled performance, according to ITV. The Manchester show was rescheduled for June 3, 2024, as reported by The Independent. The apology and ticket arrangements concerned that Manchester date.

NOS reported on May 30 that organizer Mojo explained the decision with the phrase “the events of the past week.” NOS also reported that Minaj had received a €350 fine and could still perform in the Netherlands despite the recorded offense. This Amsterdam cancellation was separate from the Manchester postponement and its rescheduled date.
