When did Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra first connect?
Jonas later recalled in a Vogue interview published December 6, 2018 that he sent Chopra a Twitter direct message on September 8, 2016. Mutual friends had suggested they meet. Chopra replied that her team could read the message and asked him to text her instead. They exchanged texts for months before meeting face to face.
When did they first meet in person?
Their first in-person encounter described in the Vogue interview took place at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in February 2017, not at the Met Gala. Jonas reportedly got down on one knee in front of Chopra and said, “You’re real. Where have you been all my life?”
Why did they attend the Met Gala together?
In May 2017, Jonas and Chopra attended the Met Gala together in Ralph Lauren designs. They described themselves as friends at the time, according to ELLE’s relationship timeline. The appearance came after their Oscar-party meeting.

When did they start dating?
Their relationship became romantic in May 2018. Over Memorial Day weekend in Los Angeles, they saw Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert, went to a Dodgers game, and spent time on a friend’s boat. Later timelines describe that weekend as the beginning of their dating relationship.
In June, Jonas visited Chopra’s family in India, and their relationship became more visible publicly. The Indian Express reported that Jonas posted a video of Chopra to his Instagram Story with the caption “Her.”

When did Nick Jonas propose, and what was the roka?
July 2018: The proposal in Crete
Jonas proposed in Crete after midnight in July 2018, during a trip Chopra understood to be for her birthday. In Vogue, he said he wanted their engagement anniversary to fall on a different date from her birthday. He asked, “Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?”
August 2018: The family roka in Mumbai
The roka was a separate ceremony, held in Mumbai in August. Vogue described it as a gathering of both families and religious traditions: Jonas’s father, a pastor, prayed, and a Hindu priest led blessings. The ceremony followed the proposal; it was not the proposal itself.

When and where did they get married?
Jonas and Chopra married in Jodhpur at Umaid Bhawan Palace in two ceremonies on consecutive days. ABC News dates the Christian ceremony to December 1, 2018, and the Hindu ceremony to December 2. The two ceremonies honored both of their backgrounds.
When did they welcome their daughter?
In January 2022, the couple announced that they had welcomed a baby via surrogate and asked for privacy. Vogue Arabia later identified their daughter as Malti Marie. The announcement established the family milestone without making private medical details part of the public account.
