Nicholas Galitzine said he filmed “about four sex scenes in one day” for the historical drama Mary & George. The number is his recollection, as reported in an Entertainment Weekly interview published by Yahoo on April 3, 2024—not an independently verified production log.
What Galitzine said about the day
Galitzine described moving from room to room, meeting scene partners and talking through the choreography. “There was one day where we did about four sex scenes in one day,” he said.
He recalled the introductions as unusually direct: “I was going from room to room meeting strangers and saying, ‘Hi, I am Nick, nice to meet you. Okay, this is the position we’re going to be in.’” The interview did not identify the intimacy coordinator or give further details about the production’s protocols.
How he described filming the intimate scenes
Galitzine said he was proud of the work and praised the intimacy coordinator. “We had such a wonderful intimacy coordinator, and for the day players who came in for these singular scenes, I hope I made them feel comfortable,” he said. He also called the experience “an incredibly empowering feeling.”

Where the scenes fit in Mary & George
The seven-episode historical drama centers on Mary Villiers, played by Julianne Moore, her son George Villiers, played by Galitzine, and King James I, played by Tony Curran. Its story follows George’s relationship with the king and his rise to power. The interview’s framing treated the intimate scenes as part of that story rather than as material included only for shock or titillation.
The series is based on Benjamin Woolley’s book The King’s Assassin, which Galitzine said he consulted while learning about Villiers. The Yahoo-published coverage reported that the series premiered on Starz on April 5, 2024; that is its historical premiere date, not confirmation of where it can be watched now.
