Niall Horan joined Thomas Rhett for a new version of “Old Tricks,” released October 17, 2025. It is an alternate pairing of the song, which first appeared on About A Woman (Deluxe) with Blake Shelton—not a replacement of that version. The collaboration grew from Horan hearing the song in a studio and asking Rhett to let him sing on it.
How the “Old Tricks” collaboration began
Horan said he heard “Old Tricks” by accident while visiting the studio where his friend and producer Julian Bunetta was working on the song. “It came on and I was instantly hooked,” Horan said in the release announcing the new version. He told Rhett he was disappointed not to have been asked to sing on it, then later recorded vocals for the alternate pairing.

Rhett described the exchange as informal and persistent. He said the two had been friends for years and had talked about working together. While visiting Horan and Noah Kahan at the Masters, Horan told Rhett he was upset he had not been invited onto the song. Horan kept texting afterward and already knew all the words, Rhett said.
Rhett called the outcome “something really fun,” adding that Horan’s enthusiasm and connection with Shelton made the collaboration feel like “a full-circle moment.” Horan said recording felt “easy, natural, like it was always meant to happen.”

How the Horan version relates to Blake Shelton’s
The earlier “Old Tricks” was included on Thomas Rhett’s About A Woman (Deluxe) with Blake Shelton. The October 2025 release pairs Rhett with Horan instead. The label described it as a second version and said it was available everywhere at release; the announcement does not say Shelton’s version was withdrawn or replaced.
The official announcement establishes the different featured artists and release context, but does not detail changes in arrangement, instrumentation, or production. It is therefore safest to treat these as two pairings of the song rather than claim specific sonic differences.

Release and physical edition
Universal Music Canada announced the Horan version on October 17, 2025. Horan’s official store also lists a limited first pressing on clear-orange 7-inch vinyl. The listing establishes that the edition exists, but stock and price may change; it does not establish availability through Amazon.

On March 10, 2026, GEODIS Park announced that Rhett and Horan were scheduled to play a joint headline show there on July 9, 2026, describing it as their first stadium headline show together. That date has passed, and the announcement alone does not confirm whether the concert took place as planned.
