Prime Video’s Canadian Monday Night Hockey package carried 26 national, English-language NHL broadcasts during the 2024–25 regular season. It launched on October 14, 2024, with the Pittsburgh Penguins visiting the Montreal Canadiens. The games were included with a Canadian Prime membership, but Prime covered only this defined Monday-night package—not every NHL game.

The games that shaped the package
Penguins at Canadiens: October 14
The opener paired Sidney Crosby with a Montreal lineup led by its emerging young players, including Cole Caufield. It was the first Prime Monday Night Hockey broadcast in Canada.
Lightning at Maple Leafs and Maple Leafs at Jets
The first two subsequent dates put Toronto in prominent national windows: Tampa Bay visited the Maple Leafs on October 21, followed by Toronto’s visit to Winnipeg on October 28.
Panthers at Oilers: December 16
Florida’s visit to Edmonton revisited the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, making it the clearest championship storyline on the schedule.

April 14 doubleheader
The season ended with two broadcasts rather than one: Chicago at Montreal and Los Angeles at Edmonton. That is why the package contained 26 broadcasts but only 25 Monday dates.
Why February had no Monday broadcast
The regular season paused from February 10 through February 21, 2025, for the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal and Boston. Prime’s schedule therefore moved from February 3 to February 24.

- Use a Prime membership registered in Canada.
- Open the Prime Video app or Prime Video on the web and find the Monday Night Hockey listing.
- Watch live through a supported browser, smart TV, console, mobile device or other compatible Prime Video device.
The games were included at no additional charge for Prime members. A regular Amazon account without Prime was not sufficient, and a separate Prime Video Channels sports subscription was not required. The September 23, 2024 announcement cited Canadian Prime pricing of C$9.99 per month or C$99 per year; those were historical launch terms, not a verified August 2026 price. Check Amazon Canada’s Prime page for current pricing.

What Prime did—and did not—replace
Prime Video was exclusive for the national, English-language Monday-night package in Canada. It did not acquire every NHL game, every Monday game, or all Canadian-language coverage.
- Broader NHL viewing: Check Sportsnet’s current offerings at Sportsnet+ for games outside the Prime package, subject to regional rights and blackouts.
- French-language coverage: Prime’s announced package was English-language. Viewers should check TVA Sports and the individual game listing for French options.
- Regional broadcasts: A club’s local rights are separate from Prime’s national package. Do not assume that one service carries every local or regional presentation.
- Prime Video Channels: Channels are separate paid add-ons at Prime Video Channels; they were not needed for these Monday broadcasts.
Presentation and broadcast features
Amazon produced the broadcasts with pregame, intermission and postgame coverage and a rotating on-site operation. The announced team included John Forslund on play-by-play; analysts Jody Shelley, Thomas Hickey, Shane Hnidy and Blake Bolden; hosts Adnan Virk and Andi Petrillo; and contributor Mark Messier.
Prime also promoted Rapid Recap, a machine-learning feature that created a short highlights package for viewers joining a game already in progress.
Schedule caveats for readers
- “Monday night” did not mean one fixed puck-drop time; venues span several time zones.
- Start times and listings can change, so the NHL’s game page remains the final authority for a specific broadcast.
- Not every NHL game played on a Monday belonged to Prime’s national package.
- The 2024–25 schedule is historical. The underlying agreement also covered 2025–26, but this table should not be treated as a current 2026–27 guide.
The Bottom Line
For Canadian viewers who wanted the national Monday-night NHL games in English, Prime membership was enough. Fans seeking a full season, regional games or French-language coverage still needed to consult Sportsnet, TVA Sports and other applicable rights holders.
