Footage posted by designer Misa Hylton on April 2, 2024, shows federal agents detaining Sean Combs’ sons during a search of his Los Angeles home eight days earlier. The Los Angeles Times reported that it verified the footage came from the home’s security system; Good Morning America described Hylton’s Instagram clip as edited and sped up. Reports said Justin and Christian “King” Combs were briefly detained and released. The Los Angeles Times said neither was arrested.
When the footage was posted and when the search happened
Hylton, a designer and the mother of Justin Combs, shared the video on Instagram on April 2, 2024. It shows part of the March 25 search at Sean Combs’ Los Angeles home. The posting date is not the date of the raid.
The Los Angeles Times said it confirmed that the clip came from a home-security system. Good Morning America reported that the Instagram excerpt was edited and sped up, so it should not be treated as a complete or unedited recording of the search. The Los Angeles Times’ account and GMA’s report describe the footage and its publication.
What the clip shows—and what Hylton said happened
The Los Angeles Times described the footage as showing agents in military-style gear pointing a gun toward one of Combs’ sons and a laser toward another. Hylton separately alleged that laser beams were pointed at Justin’s chest and a gun at Christian’s head while he was detained. Those descriptions should not be conflated: the first is the newspaper’s account of what appears in the video, while the second is Hylton’s characterization of the encounter.

Were Justin and Christian Combs arrested?
News reports said Justin and Christian “King” Combs were briefly detained during the search. The Los Angeles Times said they were not arrested, and GMA reported that they were later released. Detention during the operation is not the same as an arrest; the cited coverage does not report that either son was charged in connection with the raid.

How the force question was addressed
Hylton criticized the force used against her sons. GMA also quoted retired FBI Special Agent in Charge and ABC News contributor Richard Frankel, who offered general context about warrant entries: “When law enforcement, especially federal law enforcement, goes in to execute a search warrant, they’ve done quite a bit of intelligence gathering prior to doing the entry,” and “it may have been exactly what is prescribed in their rules and procedures.”
Frankel’s comments were a general procedural observation, not a finding about this particular search. The cited reports do not establish a legal or agency determination that the force used was excessive or that it complied with applicable procedures.

Why federal agents searched the properties
On March 25, 2024, federal agents searched properties in Los Angeles and Miami as part of an ongoing federal sex-trafficking investigation, according to officials cited by the Associated Press. Rolling Stone Canada reported that the warrants were issued by the Southern District of New York. The search was an investigative step; it does not establish that allegations under investigation are true. The Associated Press report and Rolling Stone Canada’s report provide further context.
