For the weekend of November 21, 2025, notable picks included the Netflix film Train Dreams, Prime Video’s animated fantasy series The Mighty Nein, and Hulu’s dark comedy The Roses. Official platform schedules also listed new stand-up specials and a returning anime installment. The date is historical; these release listings do not establish what is currently available to stream.
Netflix: a period drama in Train Dreams
Train Dreams is a film about Robert Grainier, a railroad worker in the early 1900s, and his family. TechRadar highlighted it in its November 2025 weekend guide and described it as a standout; that is the publication’s opinion, not an objective measure of quality. Read TechRadar’s weekend guide.

The same guide also identified One Shot with Ed Sheeran as a Netflix release. The available listing does not provide enough detail to compare it with Train Dreams on format or tone, so treat it as an additional title to check rather than a fully described recommendation.
Prime Video: fantasy or stand-up
The Mighty Nein for animated fantasy
The Mighty Nein is an adult animated fantasy series adapted from Critical Role’s second Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The roundup places its story 20 years after The Legend of Vox Machina. It may appeal to viewers looking for a continuing fantasy world and an episodic series rather than a standalone film. TechRadar’s guide covers the series.

#1 Best Overall
Kathleen Madigan: The Family Thread for stand-up
Amazon’s official November 2025 guide lists Kathleen Madigan’s comedy special for November 21. Its description mentions gambling as math education, Midwest pioneers, cats, and aging parents. This is a special rather than a series or feature film. See Amazon’s November 2025 Prime Video guide.
Hulu: a dark comedy, stand-up, and returning anime
The Roses for a relationship comedy with a darker edge
Starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, The Roses is described by TechRadar as a dark comedy about a couple whose marriage deteriorates. The roundup identifies it as a US Hulu option and notes a different distribution route internationally: Disney+. That distinction matters because streaming rights vary by region. See TechRadar’s regional note.
Rank #2
Sebastian Maniscalco: It Ain’t Right for stand-up
Hulu Press’s official schedule lists Sebastian Maniscalco’s special for November 21, 2025. Hulu’s November 2025 schedule is the release-date source.
YAIBA: Samurai Legend season 1B for anime
The same Hulu schedule lists season 1B of YAIBA: Samurai Legend on November 21, 2025. It is a continuation of an existing series, not a new standalone film. The schedule confirms the date but does not establish ongoing catalog availability.

What about Paramount+?
The title names Paramount+, but the available November 2025 roundup and platform schedules do not confirm a specific Paramount+ pick for November 21. That means there is no supported recommendation to add here; it does not establish that the service had no releases that weekend. Check Paramount+’s own regional listings for its schedule.
