What else is appearing across the genres?
September’s wider slate includes science fiction, fantasy, and horror titles highlighted in editorial roundups. Gizmodo’s September 1 roundup uses “144” in its headline and names writers including Leigh Bardugo, Tananarive Due, Ken Liu, Josh Malerman, China Miéville, and Emily St. John Mandel. That number is the roundup’s stated count, not an independently verified total of all books published in September or a guarantee that every named writer has a title in each genre. For additional horror discovery, Reactor published a roundup on September 2. It says its summaries are taken or summarized from publisher copy and warns that release dates are subject to change. How to choose and verify a release
- Start with the premise and tone. Choose a story collection if you want several macabre tales, or a gothic novel if an isolated family home and historical setting appeal to you.
- Check the exact edition. A publisher may list formats separately; confirm that the page or bookseller listing matches the format you want.
- Recheck the on-sale date. Release schedules can move. Publisher listings are the best place to confirm the current date and edition details.
- Use roundups for discovery, not completeness. The available listings do not establish a comprehensive catalogue for every genre or market.
