That ownership changed: on January 15, 2026, Spry Fox co-founder David Edery said the studio was fully independent again after three years under Netflix.
What happened when Netflix acquired Spry Fox?
Netflix announced the move on October 31, 2022, describing Spry Fox as an independent studio known for original cozy games and calling it the sixth studio in Netflix’s in-house games group. Netflix said the addition would broaden the variety of games available to its members. Netflix’s announcement described games as included with membership and free of ads and in-app purchases at that time; that was the company’s 2022 description, not a statement of current membership terms.
Netflix highlighted Spry Fox games including Triple Town, Alphabear, and Cozy Grove. Spry Fox’s own October 2022 announcement said its existing games would remain downloadable in their then-current forms and on their then-current platforms. That dated assurance does not establish where every title can be downloaded today. Spry Fox’s October 2022 post
Is Spry Fox still owned by Netflix?
No. On January 15, 2026, co-founder David Edery announced that Spry Fox had become independent again after three years under Netflix. He wrote: “After three years under the Netflix umbrella, Spry Fox is once again a fully independent studio.” Edery’s announcement
