Netflix’s redesigned TV homepage moves key shortcuts to the top of the screen, brings more title details into browsing, and gathers saved and in-progress viewing in My Netflix. The company announced the update on May 7, 2025, and began its global rollout on May 19. It is a software update—not a reason to buy a new television or streaming device.
What changed on Netflix’s TV homepage?
Netflix says the redesign is intended to make its TV interface more flexible for its expanding entertainment offering. Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim described the goal as creating an experience that is “more flexible for our broad entertainment offerings, more intuitive and responsive to our members’ needs, and capable of elevating the most thrilling moments on Netflix.” That is Netflix’s design intent, not independent evidence that the changes improve discovery for every viewer. Netflix’s May 7, 2025 announcement called the new experience “still the one you know and love — just better.”
Shortcuts moved to the top
The new top menu provides shortcuts for TV shows, movies, games, My Netflix, and profiles. Netflix’s original announcement emphasized that Search and My List had moved from the left side of the screen to the top; its later Help Center describes the current set of menu destinations. The change puts those routes in a visible, consistent place while browsing.
My Netflix gathers your viewing
My Netflix is a hub for items connected to your account, including My List, Continue Watching, reminders, and other saved or engaged-with content. Netflix’s May 19 user guide also says watched trailers and downloaded content can be accessed there. Netflix’s TV homepage user guide explains the hub and its contents.

More context appears before playback
While browsing, the homepage can surface a title’s synopsis, runtime, key cast, previews, and contextual callouts such as awards or Top 10 status. The point is to let viewers assess a title without first opening it or starting playback. Netflix describes these details as part of the browsing experience; their presence can vary by title.
Recommendations can react to actions
Netflix says homepage rows can respond to actions such as watching a trailer, adding a title to My List, or rating a title. The company presents this as a way to adapt suggestions to a member’s current interests and mood. It is a stated product approach, not a guarantee that every recommendation will feel more relevant.

- To find recent releases: look for the New on Netflix row.
- To find trending titles: look for Top 10 rows.
These replacement routes are described in Netflix’s Help Center guidance on the TV experience and layout.

How to tell whether your TV has the new experience
Look at the top of the Netflix screen. If menu shortcuts appear there, your device is using the redesigned experience. Netflix says it is available on most TVs and TV streaming devices, but not every device meets the technical requirements. Devices that do not qualify continue to use the older experience, and Netflix says it will add support for more devices over time. Its Help Center does not provide a complete model-by-model eligibility list.

Netflix announced the redesign on May 7, 2025, and said worldwide rollout would begin May 19, starting with eligible TVs and TV streaming devices and expanding over the following weeks. Netflix’s May 7 Tudum rollout explainer introduced the planned timing; its May 19 user guide confirmed the rollout had begun on eligible devices.

In its Q2 2025 shareholder letter, Netflix reported that roughly 50% of members had used the new experience. That is the company’s reported usage after rollout to a broad subset of TV devices—not an independent satisfaction rating or a measure of whether discovery improved. Netflix later said in its 2025 annual shareholder letter that the redesigned TV experience had been rolled out during 2025. It connected the interface’s new capabilities to a broader entertainment offering that includes video podcasts, live events, and games; that statement does not mean every device supports every content type.
Is the mobile announcement part of the TV redesign?
No. Netflix’s May 7 announcement also mentioned an opt-in beta for natural-language generative-AI search on iOS and a planned test of a vertical feed of Netflix clips on mobile. Those were separate mobile initiatives, not features of the redesigned TV homepage. The announcement does not establish their current availability.
