What is Hit Man about?
Powell plays Gary Johnson, a professor who assists police by posing as a contract killer in undercover stings. Adria Arjona plays a potential client who becomes his love interest. The trailer’s central tension comes from the collision between the fake identity required for the job and a real romantic connection.
Netflix describes the film as inspired by an unbelievable true story. That is a description of its inspiration, not a claim that the movie is a faithful retelling of events.

Who made the film?
Richard Linklater directed Hit Man; Powell stars as Gary Johnson and co-wrote the screenplay. Linklater described the film to Tudum as, “Ultimately, it’s a relationship movie.” That emphasis helps explain why the undercover-crime premise is paired with a romance rather than presented as a straightforward police procedural.
When was the trailer released, and when did the film arrive on Netflix?
The official trailer page was published April 18, 2024. Netflix Media Center announced the film’s Netflix release for June 7, 2024, at 7:00 AM GMT. That is the historical release announcement; it does not establish current availability in every region.
