They span a sports comedy-drama, an interview episode, crime, a biographical black comedy and a monster sequel. This is a dated release-day shortlist—not a statement about what Netflix currently carries in your region.
What are the five Netflix picks?
These are McMillan’s personal recommendations from the December 1, 2025 release-day slate, rather than an objective ranking or a comprehensive review. The best place to start depends on whether you want a familiar film, a conversation-led watch or a newer sequel whose reception was not yet known at the time.
| Title | Format or genre | Why it made the shortlist |
|---|---|---|
| A League of Their Own | 1992 sports comedy-drama | A story centered on the Rockford Peaches, a founding team in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War II. |
| My Next Guest with David Letterman and Adam Sandler | 60-minute interview installment | A long-form conversation with pre-taped field segments. |
| Pulp Fiction | 1994 crime film | A non-linear story built around three interwoven storylines. |
| The Wolf of Wall Street | Biographical black comedy | Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jordan Belfort in Martin Scorsese’s film based on real events. |
| Troll 2 | Monster sequel | A forward-looking pick, made before reviews were available. |
Which one should you start with?
For a sports story with an ensemble cast: A League of Their Own
McMillan recommends the 1992 film about the Rockford Peaches. He names Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O’Donnell among its cast, and notes that it inspired a short-lived Prime Video series. He characterizes the story as mostly true; that description is his, not an independent historical assessment here.
For a conversation rather than a feature film: My Next Guest with David Letterman and Adam Sandler
This 60-minute installment of Letterman’s interview series mixes a long-form sit-down with pre-taped segments filmed in the field. It’s the most direct fit of the five if you want an interview format rather than a scripted story.

For an interwoven crime story: Pulp Fiction
McMillan points to the film’s three connected storylines and non-linear structure. His article reports that it won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1994 and later the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
For a biographical black comedy: The Wolf of Wall Street
Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Jordan Belfort in Martin Scorsese’s film, which the article describes as based on real events. McMillan also praises the performances, a matter of personal opinion rather than an established consensus.

For a gamble on a sequel: Troll 2
Unlike the other four picks, this recommendation was explicitly predictive. At publication, McMillan said there were no reviews yet and that he could not know for sure whether it would be worth watching. His expectation that it would meet the standard set by Troll should be read as a forecast, not a report of critical reception.
Was it really 29 new titles?
Tom’s Guide described 29 arrivals for December 1, 2025, but its article lists 30 individual entries when counted. The discrepancy is in the source’s stated total versus its own list, so 29 should not be treated as an independently confirmed count.
