The series behind the “100% rated” headline is North of North, an Inuit-created comedy-drama set in fictional Ice Cove, Nunavut. It stars Anna Lambe as Siaja, a young Inuk mother trying to make a new life after leaving her husband. Rotten Tomatoes listed the show at 100% from 23 critics’ reviews when checked in 2026—but its audience score was 78%, and ratings can change.
What is North of North about?
Siaja makes a spontaneous, very public exit from her marriage and returns to her Arctic community looking for a fresh start. In Ice Cove, a small fictional town in Nunavut where people know one another’s business, she navigates family ties, romance and community life while making choices about the future she wants.
The show blends comedy with family and relationship drama. Netflix’s description of Season 2 continues Siaja’s efforts to improve her life as winter approaches. Calling it only a drama misses the comic side of the series: Rotten Tomatoes categorizes it as a comedy, while some coverage has used “drama” as a broader description.
What does the 100% Rotten Tomatoes score mean?
Rotten Tomatoes listed North of North with a 100% Tomatometer from 23 reviews and a 78% Popcornmeter from more than 250 audience ratings when checked in 2026. The Tomatometer reflects critics’ reviews; the Popcornmeter reflects audience ratings. A 100% Tomatometer is not a claim that every viewer likes the show, nor does it measure how strongly critics liked it. The figures are a dated snapshot and may change. Rotten Tomatoes’ series listing also lists Season 1 at 100%.

The “best new show” wording is an editorial judgment, not a formal ranking. BGR used that framing on April 14, 2025, shortly after the show arrived on Netflix; the series is no longer a brand-new release, and Rotten Tomatoes now lists two seasons.
Who created the series, and where was it made?
North of North was created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril. Netflix describes it as its first series from Canada, co-produced with CBC in partnership with APTN, and says it was filmed in Nunavut. Those details locate the show’s creative and production context; no single series should be treated as representing every Inuit community or experience. Netflix’s announcement provides production details, while CBC’s announcement describes the partnership.
