Netflix announced lower prices on December 14, 2021. When Netflix’s India plan pages were checked on August 18, 2026, they still displayed monthly rates from ₹149 to ₹649. Prices, taxes and partner-billing arrangements can change, so confirm the amount shown in your account before subscribing.

What changed in the December 14, 2021 price cut?
The announcement behind the widely repeated “Netflix India new plans” headline was Netflix’s December 14, 2021 revision. It reduced every Indian plan, with the biggest percentage reduction applied to Basic.

The original rates and the 2021 revision are documented in Netflix’s 2019 India Mobile-plan announcement and its December 2021 announcement. Contemporary coverage reported the cuts on December 14, 2021. There is no reviewed Netflix source identifying a separate August 2026 price-cut announcement.
What each Netflix India plan allows
Mobile: ₹149 per month
- 480p video.
- The official comparison labels it for phone or tablet use.
- Choose it when viewing is exclusively mobile and the lower price matters.
Do not assume that being able to sign in on another device means the Mobile tier is intended for laptop or television viewing; Netflix’s public plan description limits the supported category to phone or tablet.

- 720p video.
- Phone, tablet, laptop and TV support are shown.
- Costs only ₹50 more than Mobile, making it the first option to compare if you may watch on a laptop or television.
Standard: ₹499 per month
- 1080p video.
- Phone, tablet, laptop and TV support are shown.
- The upgrade over Basic is primarily sharper Full HD picture quality.
Netflix’s public display reviewed here does not provide a complete, current explanation of simultaneous-stream limits, so this article does not promise a specific number of concurrent viewers.
Premium: ₹649 per month
- 4K and HDR, with spatial audio shown on the India plan display.
- Best suited to a compatible 4K/HDR television, supported audio equipment, suitable content and a capable connection.
- A 1080p television may deliver little practical benefit from the extra cost.
Which plan should you choose?
Choose Mobile if you watch only on a phone or tablet
Mobile is the cheapest standalone option and suits one viewer who accepts 480p. It is not the right choice if television or laptop viewing is important.

Choose Basic for the cheapest large-screen access
Basic is ₹50 more per month than Mobile but is listed for laptops and TVs as well as mobile devices. For many occasional TV viewers, that small difference is more useful than the Mobile saving.
Choose Standard for Full HD
Standard costs ₹300 more each month than Basic—₹3,600 over 12 months before taxes or billing adjustments. The case for upgrading is 1080p quality and a preference for sharper images, not simply having a Netflix account.

Choose Premium only when your setup can use it
Premium is ₹150 more per month than Standard. It makes sense when you have 4K/HDR hardware, compatible Netflix content and a connection that can deliver it. It is not automatically better on a non-4K screen.
How to check or change your Netflix plan
Netflix says members can compare current plans and change plans at any time. Menu names and billing timing can vary, so use the labels visible in your account.

- Open the account area and the current plan or plan-details section.
- Use the plan comparison or change-plan control.
- Review the effective date and next billing amount before confirming.
- Afterward, check your payment history to confirm the charge.

- Check the plan and monthly cost in the Netflix account, rather than relying on an old article or search snippet.
- Review payment history and billing date; applicable taxes may be shown depending on location.
- If you subscribed through a telecom operator, check the operator invoice or app because the partner may administer billing.
- Confirm that the country or region is India and that no promotion or bundle condition changes the displayed amount.

Netflix telecom bundles are separate offers
Jio, Airtel and Vi offer some plans that include Netflix. These are not evidence of a new standalone Netflix price cut: they combine a Netflix tier with mobile, voice, broadband or postpaid services, and eligibility can change.

Check the current Jio offer, Airtel postpaid terms and Vi prepaid terms before purchasing. A bundle is worthwhile only if you also need the included telecom service and Netflix tier. Compare the complete telecom cost with a standalone subscription; do not compare the Netflix line item alone.
