Netflix announced StreamFest, a free weekend of Netflix access for people in India. The final event ran from December 5, 2020, at 12:01 a.m. to December 6, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. It ended years ago and is not a current free-access offer.
What Netflix actually announced
Netflix’s newsroom announced StreamFest on November 20, 2020. The India-only event was designed to let people who were not paying Netflix members try the service without committing to a normal subscription.

This was temporary promotional access, not a permanently free Netflix plan or a free subscription that continued after the weekend.
The offer covered the Netflix catalog available in India at that time. Netflix libraries differ by country and change as licensing agreements expire or are renewed; its Help Center explains why titles leave the service at this page.

When did the two free days take place?

Some contemporary stories mentioned December 4 because they were based on the earlier planning phase or described the start differently. Netflix’s final announcement is the authoritative schedule: December 5–6, 2020.
How StreamFest worked
Who could use it
Netflix presented the event as available to people in India, while contemporaneous coverage described it primarily as a non-subscriber promotion. It should not be read as an extra two free days for every existing paying customer, nor as a way to stack a second membership onto an active account.

Sign-up details
Participants could register with their name, an email address or phone number, and a password. Netflix said no credit or debit card was required for StreamFest. That no-card rule applied to the special event, not to ordinary Netflix sign-up.
What viewers could watch and use
Netflix said participants could experience the member service, including films, series, documentaries and reality programming. The announced features included:

The event allowed one standard-definition stream at a time. “Full Netflix experience” therefore meant access to the India catalog and member features available under the promotion—not every title in Netflix’s global libraries.
Supported devices
Netflix said that someone who registered through an Android app or a web browser could use the same login on supported devices such as smart TVs, gaming consoles and iOS devices, and could cast where supported. Compatibility still depended on the device and app involved; the announcement did not promise support for every model.

What happened if StreamFest reached capacity?
Access was not guaranteed for everyone who tried to join. Netflix warned that it could limit the number of viewers. A person who saw “StreamFest is at capacity” could submit an email address or phone number to be notified when the two-day access became available. Capacity limits were an operational restriction, not evidence that the promotion was fake.

No. StreamFest was a December 2020 event, and its published access window has expired. Netflix’s current Help Center says the company does not offer free trials: Netflix Free Trial.

For a normal new account, Netflix’s current sign-up guidance requires choosing a plan and entering a payment method. The official instructions are at How to sign up for Netflix. Do not treat the old “two free days” wording as a current deal.
How to handle a new “free Netflix” message
- Check the date. Posts reusing StreamFest language are often describing the 2020 event, not a new promotion.
- Use only Netflix’s official website, Netflix.com/signup, or the official Netflix app.
- Do not enter a Netflix password, one-time code or card number on an unrelated domain promising two free days.
- Be cautious of anyone selling “free Netflix accounts” or asking you to install an unofficial app. The expired promotion does not authorize account cycling or resale.
