Neil Gaiman reportedly brought an arbitration claim against Caroline Wallner, alleging that she breached their 2021 nondisclosure agreement by speaking to media. The claim and requested payments are allegations and demands—not a court judgment or a verified arbitration award.
What is the claim about?
Tortoise Media reported in April 2025 that Gaiman accused Wallner of violating confidentiality or non-disparagement terms in their 2021 NDA through media interviews. The report describes the matter as arbitration under the agreement, not a court lawsuit. Tortoise Media’s report is the direct source for the claim.
The reporting does not establish that an arbitrator found Wallner breached the agreement. The distinction matters: Gaiman’s accusation is one party’s position in a dispute, not a finding of liability.
What money did Gaiman reportedly seek?
LegalClarity reported that Gaiman sought repayment of the $275,000 settlement paid in 2021, legal fees, and $50,000 for each interview Wallner gave. These figures describe requested relief; they do not establish what Wallner owes or what an arbitrator ordered. LegalClarity’s account is secondary reporting on the demand.

The available reporting does not verify an aggregate total. The number of interviews included in the demand and the amount of legal fees are not established here, so a precise sum should not be inferred.
What is known about the NDA and the earlier dispute?
Tortoise’s 2024 account said Wallner had lived with her daughters on Gaiman’s property in Woodstock, New York, and described allegations she made about their relationship. Those are Wallner’s allegations as reported by the publication, not findings in the arbitration.

Tortoise also reported that the NDA governed discussion of the dispute and contained language addressing disclosure in response to valid legal process. The reporting included a fragment of that language, but the complete executed agreement is not established here. Nor does the reporting determine whether any particular clause is enforceable.
Separately, Tortoise reported that Wallner initiated arbitration alleging that Gaiman’s lawyer retained digital materials that should have been destroyed under the NDA. That, too, is an allegation—not a verified arbitration finding.

Does Gaiman’s public denial resolve the dispute?
No. The Associated Press reported Gaiman’s public denial that he had ever engaged in non-consensual sexual activity. That is his stated position; it does not decide the separate contractual questions raised in the Wallner arbitration. The Associated Press provides that context.
