Director Jon Turteltaub said in August 2026 that the project was happening and that he liked the current script. He also described its status as “Hollywood real”: promising, but still subject to change.
Is National Treasure 3 happening?
The clearest update came from director Jon Turteltaub at a live National Treasure Hunt podcast taping, as reported by TheWrap on August 22, 2026. Turteltaub said, “It’s happening,” and said the script had finally reached a stage he liked. He reported that Disney’s response was that it “sounds like a movie we can make.”
That is significant development progress, but it is not the same as a formal public production announcement. Turteltaub himself called the project “Hollywood real,” explaining that circumstances can still change. His comments support saying the film is in active development; they do not establish that filming is underway or that Disney has publicly committed to a release schedule.
Has Disney greenlit the film?
There is no formal Disney production greenlight established in the available reporting. Turteltaub relayed a positive response to the script—“sounds like a movie we can make”—but that is his account of the studio’s reaction, not a public Disney announcement confirming production.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The distinction matters: a script that a studio is receptive to can still be revised or delayed. TheWrap’s account reports script progress and studio interest, not a production start, a release date, or a completed deal.
Will Nicolas Cage return?
TheWrap reported that original stars, including Nicolas Cage, are in talks to return. “In talks” is not a confirmed cast announcement, so Cage’s participation should not yet be treated as finalized.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer had said in September 2025 that the intention was for Cage and Turteltaub to return. That earlier intention and the newer report of talks point in the same direction, but neither establishes signed agreements. See TheWrap’s September 30, 2025 report for Bruckheimer’s comments.
When does National Treasure 3 come out?
No release date has been announced in the cited updates, and they do not say that production has begun. Without a confirmed production schedule, there is no reliable basis for estimating when the film might arrive.
