Natalie Portman’s son Aleph met streamer Marlon LuGa while getting ready to play soccer in France, then identified his mother by her Star Wars role: Padmé Amidala. Aleph asked LuGa for a shoutout to Portman and FaceTimed her; she appeared on screen and wished him a good day.
What Aleph said to the streamer
In a video reported by ABC News and Good Morning America on June 30, 2025, Aleph asked LuGa whether he knew Portman. When LuGa did not immediately recognize the name, Aleph brought up her part as Padmé Amidala in Star Wars, then said, “Well, that’s my mom. Can you give a shoutout to my mom?”
Aleph called Portman on FaceTime. She appeared on the screen, and LuGa explained that he was with her son and they were about to play football. Portman replied, “I hope you’re having a great day.” The report said LuGa shared the video on Instagram on the Sunday before publication; it does not establish the exact date of the encounter or independently verify the full original video context. Why the moment stood out
Portman has spoken about drawing boundaries around her children’s visibility in public. In an April 2025 interview with Jenna Ortega, she said, “I set up a little bit of a barrier to be like, ‘I’m not going to do photo shoots with my kids.’” She also described being open in private but finding that clearly stating her limits in public helped protect her privacy. That context helps explain why the brief appearance drew attention; it does not establish that Aleph’s meeting or call was staged. ABC News
