There is no official, canon-wide ranking of Naruto’s summoned animals. Judging by combat impact, resilience, versatility, mobility, and usefulness to a summoner, Gamabunta is the strongest all-around combat summon among the best-known creatures. That verdict is an editorial comparison, not a measured or official power tier.
How this ranking judges strength
A summon’s value is more than the damage it can deal. The order below weighs six considerations: demonstrated combat impact, attack options and reach, defense or resilience, mobility and adaptability, support utility, and how much the summon depends on its summoner. A creature’s full potential also should not be confused with the size of the portion summoned in a particular scene.
These criteria do not produce a canon statistic. The official Naruto anime page identifies Gamabunta as the chief toad Naruto summons in the episode “He Flies! He Jumps! He Lurks! Chief Toad Appears!”, but it does not establish a comparative scale for all summons. The ranking is therefore a reasoned fan judgment.
The strongest Naruto summoning animals
1. Gamabunta — best all-around combat summon
Gamabunta takes the top spot for his combination of battlefield presence, reach, combat capability, and ability to work alongside a summoner. He is not simply a large target: his size gives him a broad field of action, while his experience and coordination make him useful in a serious fight. His effectiveness still depends on a summoner capable of calling and working with him; the ranking does not imply that every summoner can access his full potential.
#1 Best Overall
- Naruto Uzumaki, as seen in "NARUTO: Shippuden," rejoins S.H.Figuarts with all new joint technology
- [Set Contents] Main Body, Three left and four right optional hands, Four optional expressions, Kunai, "Rasengan" effect, Crossed arm parts
- Stands approximately 5.5" tall
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
2. Katsuyu — greatest support and survivability value
Katsuyu is a standout when strength includes keeping allies alive and supporting a group, rather than winning a direct contest of force. Her remarkable resilience and support role make her exceptionally useful across a battle. She ranks below Gamabunta for a combat-first comparison because raw offensive impact is not the same as healing or battlefield support.
3. Manda — a dangerous offensive threat
Manda’s size, speed, and aggressive fighting style make him one of the most formidable direct-combat summons. He can threaten opponents at close range and bring substantial force to a fight. His ranking reflects that offensive danger, balanced against the fact that usefulness and reliability depend on the summoner and circumstances.

4. Aoda — agile and adaptable
Aoda offers a different kind of strength: speed, maneuverability, and the ability to contribute without relying solely on overwhelming size. That makes him a flexible combat partner. Against the largest summons, however, his advantages are more about adaptability than sheer battlefield scale.
5. Enma — a versatile close-combat specialist
Enma’s combat usefulness comes from skill and versatility rather than being a giant animal that dominates an entire battlefield. He can contribute directly and adapt to a fight, making him a powerful summon in the right matchup. His narrower scale and role place him below the larger heavy hitters in an all-purpose ranking.

6. Pakkun and the ninja hounds — strongest tracking utility
The ninja hounds are valuable for tracking, coordination, and locating targets. Those abilities can decide whether a mission succeeds, but they do not make the pack a stronger direct combat summon than the entries above. Their lower position reflects this ranking’s emphasis on battle strength, not a lack of practical importance.
Why “strongest” depends on the job
For a large-scale fight, Gamabunta is the most convincing all-around choice. For keeping a team alive, Katsuyu may be more useful. For tracking a target, the ninja hounds are better suited than a giant toad. A single order cannot capture those different jobs, which is why combat strength and practical usefulness should not be treated as interchangeable.

Do game summons count as canon evidence?
No. Bandai Namco’s September 10, 2026 update describes a ninja-shark summon and its damage, buffs, and requirements as features of Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Those details describe the game’s mechanics; they do not establish the shark’s relative power in the manga or anime. A game summon’s balance or abilities should not be used to revise a canon ranking.
