Which of Sasuke’s jutsu are the most useful in a fight? The best choice is not automatically the biggest explosion: usability depends on how quickly Sasuke can bring a technique to bear, what it costs or requires, how easily an opponent can counter it, and whether it works beyond one narrow situation. This is an editorial ranking, not an official Naruto list. The ordering weighs repeatability and flexibility alongside impact.
How this usability ranking works
The positions below distinguish a dependable option from a dramatic finisher. A technique can be devastating yet fall lower if it needs a particular opening, carries a significant condition, or has limited roles. The official sources establish useful details for several techniques, but do not publish a comparative usability ranking; placements and the broader ordering here are editorial judgments.
Sasuke’s 10 best jutsu, ranked by usability
-
Uchiha Style Sword Techniques
Sasuke’s sword style is built around close-range weapon use, including iai-like drawing cuts. The NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE’s database says Sasuke developed and honed the style, and notes that lightning chakra can coat the blade to increase its sharpness. It ranks first for its practical combination of quick engagement and a close-range option that can be adapted with chakra, rather than depending on a single large-scale opening. Its obvious limitation is range: Sasuke must get close enough to use the sword effectively. NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE: Uchiha Style Sword Techniques
-
Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu
A straightforward offensive technique in Sasuke’s repertoire, the Fireball Jutsu appears in his battle with Itachi. Its place near the top reflects its broad attack role and the fact that it does not have the special Sharingan condition explicitly attached to Chidori in the official technique description. The available official retrospective does not specify its exact chakra cost, range, or casting requirements, so those details should not be treated as established here. Chidori
Chidori is a concentrated-chakra thrust delivered at high speed. The NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE’s Boruto Database describes it as “A high-speed, thrusting attack that utilizes concentrated chakra.” Crucially, the entry says the technique is usable only with Sharingan: without it, the user is too vulnerable to counterattacks. That condition makes Chidori a forceful but less universally available choice than its speed might suggest. It ranks third because its direct, high-impact attack role is valuable, while its stated dependency and vulnerability constrain when it is safe to use. NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE: Boruto Database—Chidori
-
Amaterasu
Amaterasu is one of the major techniques Sasuke uses during his fight with Itachi. It offers a formidable offensive role, but the official account places it within a battle in which both brothers’ Sharingan use and ninjutsu depleted their chakra. The source does not provide a general activation cost or reliable counterplay details, so the ranking does not assume it can be used freely or repeatedly. Its destructive potential is clear; its practical position is moderated by the resource demands evident in that prolonged encounter. NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE: Sasuke and Itachi’s battle

Susano’o
In the official retrospective of the Itachi battle, Susano’o is revealed after Sasuke’s Kirin strikes. The feature describes it as protective chakra taking the likeness of a warrior god, which makes defense central to its value—not just offense. That wider role earns it a high position for battlefield coverage, but the same battle illustrates why spectacle is not the same as everyday usability: Sharingan use and ninjutsu had already drained both brothers’ chakra. Kirin
Kirin is a dramatic finishing technique whose use in the Itachi fight depends on the circumstances of that battle. The official retrospective recounts that both brothers’ chakra had been depleted through Sharingan use and ninjutsu before Sasuke’s Kirin play; Itachi is struck by falling lightning, then reveals Susano’o. That context demonstrates Kirin’s high impact, but does not establish a low-setup, repeatable attack for ordinary exchanges. It ranks below techniques with more immediate roles because its best-known use is tied to a particular battle opportunity. NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE: Sasuke and Itachi’s battle

Cursemark Second State
Sasuke’s Cursemark Second State is a recognizable transformation, but the sources available for this ranking do not establish its story-specific activation conditions, costs, or limitations in enough detail to compare them confidently with the techniques above. Its usability placement is therefore conservative rather than a claim that it is weak. Keep game adaptations separate: cooldowns, range, and recovery described for the move in Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker are game mechanics, not evidence of how easily Sasuke can use it in the manga or anime. NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE: Developers’ Letter, February 26, 2025
-
Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu
This is another fire-style option associated with Sasuke, but the cited official source discusses it as part of Shinobi Striker, not as an authoritative guide to manga or anime combat conditions. That makes a precise claim about its story usability difficult to support here. It sits below better-documented choices because the official material cited for it is game-specific; the game’s range or cooldown behavior should not be transferred to the story. -
Chidori Layering
Chidori Layering is described in the official Shinobi Striker developers’ letter as a game technique with its own cooldown, range, and recovery behavior. Those properties can help explain how the game balances the move, but they do not establish the usability of a distinct manga or anime jutsu. It ranks low on this story-focused list because the cited evidence is adaptation-specific, not because a game cooldown is a canon limitation. NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE: Developers’ Letter, February 26, 2025

Chidori versus Rasengan: the clash is not a separate jutsu
The Chidori-versus-Rasengan confrontation is a memorable scene, not a separate technique to add to Sasuke’s list. The official Spanish-language volume page identifies the clash in Naruto, volume 26, covering chapters 227–235. It is useful context for Chidori’s place in the story, but a particular matchup does not by itself establish that Chidori is the most usable option across different fights. What the ranking says about power and practicality
- Conditions matter: Chidori’s official description explicitly connects safe use to the Sharingan, making that limitation more firmly established than many fine-grained comparisons.
- Battle context matters: Kirin’s appearance after a chakra-draining exchange with Itachi makes it a striking finisher, not proof of effortless repeatability.
- Roles matter: Susano’o’s protective function gives it defensive value that raw attack power alone would miss.
- Evidence matters: Game-specific cooldowns and recovery cannot be used to rank the story version of a technique.
For the Chidori–Rasengan encounter, the official volume 26 page provides an optional reading reference; it is not necessary to understand the ranking.
