Naomi Watts has two children, both from her former long-term relationship with actor Liev Schreiber: Alexander “Sasha” Pete Schreiber and Kai Schreiber. Sasha was born in 2007, while Kai was born in 2008. Although both children have occasionally appeared in entertainment coverage, their recent public profiles have developed in different directions: Sasha has moved into college life, while Kai began modeling professionally in 2025.

Who is the father of Naomi Watts’ children?
Liev Schreiber is the biological father of both children. Watts and Schreiber began their relationship in 2005 and announced their separation in September 2016 after more than a decade together. They were never married, so Schreiber is accurately described as Watts’ former partner rather than her ex-husband.
Watts married actor Billy Crudup in June 2023. Crudup is Sasha and Kai’s stepfather, not their biological father. Watts and Schreiber have continued to share public parenting moments, including support for their children’s milestones.
Sasha Schreiber
Birth and name
Sasha’s full birth name is Alexander Pete Schreiber. He was born in Los Angeles on July 25, 2007, making him Watts and Schreiber’s first child. “Sasha” became the name used in later family and media coverage, although older reports sometimes used Alexander Pete.

Education and interests
Watts has spoken publicly about Sasha’s transition into adulthood. She marked his 16th birthday in July 2023 and later discussed the emotional experience of dropping him off at the University of Southern California in 2025. The moment was presented as a familiar parent-child milestone rather than evidence of a new entertainment career.
Sasha has also been associated with environmental causes. Public coverage has highlighted his participation in climate strikes and beach cleanups, suggesting an interest in environmental activism outside his parents’ film careers.
Did Sasha act?
Sasha and Kai both had early voice roles in the 2016 film The Jungle Book. That credit is documented, but it should not be confused with a confirmed, ongoing acting career. The more recent public information about Sasha concerns his education and personal interests.
Kai Schreiber
Identity and family support
Kai publicly identifies as a trans girl and uses she/her pronouns. In 2025, coverage of an Interview magazine Q&A discussed her identity and her connection to the trans fashion community. Liev Schreiber has publicly expressed his support, describing Kai’s request for a change in pronouns as a natural expression of who she is.
Rank #2
Some older reports used different language because they were published around Kai’s birth in December 2008, before she publicly identified herself as a trans girl. Current references should use Kai, daughter, and she/her pronouns.
Kai’s modeling career
Kai began building a public modeling profile in 2025. Her runway debut came at Valentino’s Fall 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week in March 2025. Vogue later reported that she walked for Celine during the 2025 couture-season schedule.
She has also attended fashion events with Watts, including Balenciaga’s couture presentation. These appearances represent a more recent professional direction than the children’s brief voice work in The Jungle Book.
How old are Naomi Watts’ children?
As of August 9, 2026, Sasha is 19 and Kai is 17. Sasha’s exact birth date is July 25, 2007. Kai was born in December 2008, although public sources do not consistently provide a specific day.

Naomi Watts’ relationship with her children in public
Watts has occasionally shared family milestones while generally keeping her children’s private lives out of the spotlight. The public record includes birthday tributes, comments about Sasha leaving for college, and appearances with Kai at fashion events. It does not support the broader claim that both children are pursuing acting careers.
The clearest current summary is therefore straightforward: Sasha is Watts’ older son, born in 2007, with a documented interest in environmental causes and a move into college life. Kai is her younger daughter, born in 2008, who publicly identifies as transgender and began working as a model in 2025.
