He elaborated: “We all had to come together around this trauma, this tragic event. And it, of course, opened our eyes about how short life can be and how fleeting.” He also said, “Realizing that we lost a wife and mother, it forced us to be together, whether we wanted to or not.”
Strickland said Naomi’s absence brought him closer to Wynonna and Ashley, whom he described as the main parts of Naomi still present in his life. That is his account of his relationships with the sisters; it does not establish how each family member privately experienced the loss.

How Wynonna and Ashley described their grief
The same report recalled a joint statement the sisters issued after their mother’s death: “Today, we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness.” They continued: “We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.” Their words conveyed grief and uncertainty, rather than a claim that the loss had made their relationship easier.
Wynonna also reflected on the intensity of her bond with her mother in footage cited by the report: “It’s a blessing and a burden to be that close to your mother.”
