Mysterious Island of Beautiful Women is a 1979 American television adventure film about an all-male crew forced to land on an uncharted island, where they encounter a community of women who distrust men. Directed by Joseph Pevney and written by Gary Sherman and Sandor Stern, the film is also known as Island of Sister Theresa.
What is Mysterious Island of Beautiful Women about?
After an emergency landing strands them on an uncharted island, a male crew meets women who are wary of outsiders. The inhabitants defend their homes and shrine, while the newcomers and the island community face danger from nearby warriors, according to Kino Lorber’s film synopsis.
The plot account on IMDb adds that the community descends from orphan girls and a nun stranded on the island decades earlier. It describes the men learning the history behind the community and its leader; those details are part of IMDb’s plot summary.
