Spinner’s group comes to retrieve Kurogiri, while Mezo Shoji—a heteromorph himself—tries to reach the people he is fighting.
What happens in My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 14?
“Together with Shoji” is Season 7’s 14th episode and the series’ 152nd episode, listed as E152. Crunchyroll gives its release date as August 24, 2024. Its synopsis sets the immediate stakes at Central Hospital: Spinner leads a group of heteromorphs there to retrieve Kurogiri, and Shoji speaks to them.
The episode’s conflict therefore has two levels. The group has a concrete objective—getting Kurogiri out of the hospital—but its anger also comes from the persecution heteromorphs have faced. The hospital confrontation becomes a clash over both action and grievance.
Why are the heteromorphs angry?
Heteromorphs are people whose Quirks give them visibly nonhuman physical traits. The episode brings discrimination tied to those traits into focus: the members of Spinner’s group are described as resentful after persecution. Their anger is not simply a response to the immediate fight; it reflects a broader social inequality connected to Quirks.

A contemporaneous CBR review likewise reads the episode through discrimination and societal inequality, arguing that the reasons characters fight give the action much of its force. That is a critic’s interpretation of the installment, rather than an official statement of creator intent.
Why does Shoji’s role matter?
Shoji shares the broad experience that links him to Spinner’s followers: he is a heteromorph. But he does not join their actions. Instead, the episode places him in the difficult position of opposing the group while trying to speak to people who have faced a form of prejudice he understands.

That perspective distinguishes this Central Hospital conflict from the wider final-war battles. The dramatic question is not only whether one side can overcome the other, but whether Shoji can make contact across a divide shaped by both violence and shared experience.
