Chapter 424 reveals that Izuku Midoriya has only the embers of One For All left. The power has not vanished immediately, but those embers are expected to fade—meaning Izuku will become Quirkless again.
What happened to One For All in Chapter 424?
Set after the Final War, Chapter 424 shifts from the battle to its aftermath. Izuku and All Might are recovering in hospital, and Katsuki Bakugo learns what remains of One For All: Izuku has its embers, not the full power.
The distinction matters. The embers are a temporary remnant of One For All, and the chapter establishes that they will fade. Izuku can still have the power for a time, but Chapter 424 does not present that as a permanent return or continued possession of One For All.
Does Deku lose One For All?
Yes, in the sense that the chapter makes clear the remaining embers are expected to burn out. The immediate state is not that Izuku has already lost every trace of the power; it is that only a fading remnant remains. Katsuki understands the consequence: Izuku will soon be Quirkless again.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That makes the resolution bittersweet. Izuku has survived the final battle with a temporary trace of One For All, but the story does not frame that trace as a lasting reward or a full restoration of his former abilities.
What Chapter 424 does—and does not—settle
Chapter 424, titled “Epilogue” in the chapter reference, supplies the immediate answer about One For All after the Final War: embers remain, and they are expected to fade. It does not, by itself, establish every later detail of Izuku’s life or status. Claims about what happens beyond this point should be tied to the series’ later ending rather than read into this chapter.
